The First Boatman's Reunion, 1915

 

In August of 1915, the first boatman's reunion was held. More than who had worked on the canal attended that first reunion at Rolling Green Park.  In 1916, 1500 attended the reunion.

The list of the 500 who attended in 1915

"Included in the list are not only the captains, bowmen, driver and lock tenders, but also their wives, although no name is recorded unless the parties were identified in the canal operation."
