The Chopped Event at Chef's Place In Milton

Tonight was a fundraiser to kick off the capital campaign for the new Chef's Place in the Moose building in Milton Pa.  It was a fun event, and a great cause!
Top Left in the bowl - a take on lasagna, with plantains and Mexican spices, from the chef from the Caribbean Connection.  Top left of the plate, a take on biscuits and gravy (my favorite!) from the chef from Elizabeths' Bistro. Top & Bottom right were both from the Chef from Hotel Edison - a cheese sauce with tortilla and a crispy cracker (that was FANTASTIC) with a salsa made with the orange marmalade.    On the bottom left was a take on a french quiche, from the Chef from Brasserie Louis. 

I'm glad we arrived early, and had purchased our tickets in advance.  This was a packed event!  (The photo was taken very early in the evening, but shows the space "before" the planned rennovations)

Chefs from Hotel Edison,  Brasserie Louis, Caribbean Connection, and Elizabeth's Bistro were given a bag of local sourced ingredients, and they needed to use all of those ingredients in their dishes.  


The ingredients included: Chef Boyardee Ravioli, Orange Marmalade from Ards, Cheese from Penn Cheese in Winfield, & soupie donated by the Soupie brothers LLC.  (Soupie is a coal cracker version of the italian soppressata)


Judges, and the audience, voted on the dishes in a blind taste test.

Celebrity judge Paul Biordi spoke to us about his Uncle Hector.
Tonight there was a large variety of Chef's Memorabilia on display as well.
 


At the end of the evening, Chef Benjo from Caribbean Connection was pronounced the winner, for his take on a lasagna with the ingredients, and added plantains and mexican spices.  My personal favorite was the take on "biscuits and gravy" by Chef Kreiger from Elizabeth's bistro.


Great food, a great new program for our area, and an all around fun evening!
