Englers Falls
On Private Property, Not Accessible To The Public.
Located at the bottom of Nygart Gap just south of Collomsville. It is the only such waterfall in the valley with water dropping 20 feet or so into a sink & disappearing underground again. Known as "The Falls To Nowhere".
The Nippenose Valley watershed drains some 56 square miles of land, and the runoff is carried by 13 streams that feed the underground system. The larger streams are named Rauch's, McMurren's, Nygart's, Sweitzer's & Rattling Camp."
This photo, from the James V. Brown Archives, is labeled "Nippenose Sinkhole"
It appears to be Englers Falls, but I am not certain.
These falls are mentioned often in local history books. The springs and caverns and sinkholes in this area are unique, and often studied by Bucknell students in the past - but they are no longer accessible. The property owner has posted the property, placed cameras, and is adamant than no one is allowed to visit.
In an 1857 Guide Book To Pennsylvania, Englers Falls is listed as the 8th Wonder Of Pa:
