A Coal Cracker In The Kitchen
These are not your typical pinterest recipes. This is old school, coal region cooking, with recipes from a local Coal Miners daughter. While there are a lot of recipes I will never try myself (liverwurst. No thank you.) , there are also some that are staples here. And there's often a bit of history thrown in, making the recipes extra interesting.
"With the expansion of the mining and railroad industries. English, Welsh, Irish and German immigrants formed a large portion of the population, followed by Polish, Slovak, Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Italian, Russian and Lithuanian immigrants. The influence of these immigrant populations is still strongly felt in the region, with various towns possessing pronounced ethnic characters and cuisine. Throw in some influence from the Pennsylvania Dutch of the Schuylkill County and Lehigh Valley areas and you have a sampling of Coal Region comfort foods!"

John Kucko Digital
This one is across the border, so a bit less local - but you can visit most of the things he posts about in a day trip. Or at least in a week-end trip. Great history, and just interesting things. Like the only canal where the road when under it, not over it. And a collection of old cars & memorobilia that is just jaw dropping. His photos are amazing, following him will make your facebook feed much prettier.
On The Road Pennsylvania
Old photos, new photos, nature, buildings - random Pennsylvania things.

Speaking of history, no, there are no history pages on this list. There are just too many - they will be their own list. Eventually. :-)
