Quaker Manufacturing, Lewisburg Pa

I
n the comments of another post,. Paul Matrey added the following:
"another mill was located about 1 block south of Rt.45. My memory fails, as to whether it was a silk, or a woolen mill. As you enter Lewisburg, via the bridge, turn left, then follow Water St. around its curve, to St. Louis St.. Shortly after the curve, is Walnut alley. The first home, to the left (in Walnut), was a large ranch, built by W.W. Watkins. The short driveway, to the attached garage, was bordered to the right, by a stone wall. This wall is all that is left of the former mill."

Larry Means then supplied this photo of the wall.

The maps I found appear to show this as the Quaker Manufacturing Company in 1906, and 1913. Quaker Manufacturing moved from Lewisburg, to the Sunbury textile Mills, in 1957.

This is one of a series of  advertisements and  and photos from a 1913 edition of the Lewisburg Journal.  Some time in the future I may add more research, but for now, I simply wanted to get them online where they could easily be seen.  If you have more information on any of these items, I'd love to hear from you!
