Schickshinny Falls

Shickshinny Falls, June 2021

Getting to the top of these falls is a short, flat, easy walk.  Getting to the bottom, where you can really see this waterfall is steep, and slick.

There is a state game lands parking lot at:
N 41° 08.875 W 076° 10.188

A trail to the left of the parking area will lead you right to the top of the  falls, in a short, easy, 5-10 minute walk.

It will actually lead you right to what appears to be an old mill dam, right above the waterfall.
I could not find any information on what was here.  In 1865 Stackhouse owned the property in this area, and he built a variety of mills in Shickshinny, so if I were to research this further, I would look into the Stackhouse family.

This area alone is well worth walking to see.  A lot of portions of old walls remain, and it's really quite beautiful.

From here, you can just make out the top of the waterfall ahead.  Keep working your way down the hill.  Carefully.
It had rained for two days before we arrived - we were thankful to find a rope tied here to help with the climb.
