"A double-track bridge was located at the west end of Bloomsburg and was known far and wide, as few communities could boast of double-track bridges. After completion of the concrete highway between Bloomsburg and Danville the double-track bridge at Bloomsburg became real headache to the Highway Department and was replaced as quickly as possible. While the roadways on the bridge were adequate for horse-drawn vehicles, many truckers were forced to detour because the loads they were transporting were too high or too wide to get over the bridge." - 1949 Scranton Times Tribune
