The Muncy Train Station

The Muncy station was located on West Penn Street, with the Keystone Company on the other side of the tracks.

There were at least 3 railroad stations in the town of Muncy Pa, over the years.
The first station, a brick building, was destroyed in a storm in June of 1883.  The roof was blown off, and the walls collapsed.
In 1855, the Sunbury & Erie Railroad built a station in Muncy.

The train station in Muncy was right across from Keystone Paint. This is a close up from the Fowler map for muncy - the buildings marked with the 9 are the Keystone company, and the train station is the flatter, longer, building diagonally down from the building with the 9 on it. On June  17th 1883, The railroad station at Muncy was blown down by a cyclone, and a 13 year old boy was killed.

 
In this photo the window panes are broken out - it's possibly after the 1912 explosion?

On June 6th 1883, lightening struck a tank at Muncy Station, causing a fire, and "great excitement in the neighborhood".

The 1883 lightening strike was mentioned in papers across the nation.
