Nick got his start drawing in the CCC Camps in the 1930s and did artwork with many different projects during World War II. -Mr. Rosato started illustrating for Game News in the early 1950s.
-He completed nearly 3,500 illustrations for Game News covers and Field Notes.
- Since the Early 1950s Mr. Rosato has been the sole artist for Field Notes.

The Williamsport scenes are part of a series titled "Road To Yesterday" - hand colored lithographs of historic locations in the region.

Rosato, who never went to art school, said in a 1982 interview that 
"the seasons of the year sort of guide me."
In addition to his work for Game News, Rosato was an illustrator for the Grit for 34 years.
His oils and watercolors have been featured in assorted outdoor publications, including Hunters Digest. Indian inhabitants are a popular theme in his work.  "The Indians" he said, "believed in nature."Rosato also designed posters, decals, and a game commission arm patch.On May 22 1982, Nick Rosato opened a studio and art gallery in Cogan Station, next to his home.

Rosato was a prolific artist, and frequently  400 copies of each of his prints were made - so his art can frequently be found on Ebay, and in thrift stores.
Nicholas Albert Rosato died April 7 2014, at Williamsport Hospital.  He was 91 years old.

Nicholas Albert Rosato, 91, of Williamsport, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Williamsport Hospital.

Born May 13, 1922 in Williamsport he was a son of Albert J. Rosato and Hazel Rosato

Nick attended school in Williamsport, PA and Rochester, NY. He joined the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in the1930s.

Nick married Grace Marie Liberti in 1942. With the advent of WWII, Nick joined the Navy and served in the Aleutian Islands. Nick was born with the heart of an artist, earning awards in high school and in the Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Nick pursued his life's work as an illustrator for the Grit Publishing Company. Nick's true love was nature demonstrated by his fine art works of wildlife and landscapes. His artwork has been seen in numerous books and magazines, including Field & Stream, and Pennsylvania Angler. Most noticeable were his years of service with the Pennsylvania Game News, where his artwork donned numerous covers, stories and the Field Notes, for which he was recently honored in Harrisburg.

Nick was preceded in death by his wife who passed in 1975.

Nick is survived by his children, Sharon Sawyer (William) of Athens, PA.; Albert (Bev) of Berkeley Springs, WV.; Gary (Diana) of Williamsport, PA.; and Niki Smith (Rick) of Williamsport, Pa. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry, St.  Montoursville, PA. with Rev. John K. Manno officiating.
