The Dewart Country Store

If you have ever wanted to step back in time and shop at the general store in town, be sure to stop in Dewart.  Plan on having lunch while you are there - the coffee and lunch prices are low enough that you really will feel like you stepped back in time.

The Dewart Country Store opened in 2018 in the old Young's Hardware building.  Two years later they moved down the street to the old Sterners building.  Run by a local Amish family, this store has the old fashioned general store feel.  You can purchase everything from candles and clothespins, to seasonings and lunch meat, and even have lunch at the attached cafĂ©.  They sell home made potato chips and doughnuts too.

The Old Sterners Store first opened in the 1870s.
Read More about it here:

When you walk in, there's a deli counter, and shelves full of household goods and grocery products.

Behind the deli counver is the produce room.    There are coolers in the produce room, with refrigerated and frozen foods.

On the right side of the store is the cafe.  They sell a variety of sandwiches, wraps, cheesesteaks, pizza, smoothies, and more. Follow their facebook page for updates on their menu and specials:

The cafe is decorated with photos and memorabilia from the old Dewart Creamery, and from Sterners.

Cabinet Surplus is in the building that was once the Dewart Creamery.

Before the Move
When The Dewart Country Store
Was In Young's Hardware
================

This morning I stopped in at the newly opened Dewart Country Store.  They have done such a great job keeping the old hardware store feel.  It's really a great little country store.

They are open 7am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Closed Wednesday and Sunday.

There was a small narrow table at the front of the store with some produce.  Broccoli, strawberries..  I think a little lettuce.  It's a small selection, but it's also early in our growing season here.

To the right was a stand with coffee and breakfast sandwiches.  There were doughnuts for sale beside the cash register.

The middle of the store has bulk spices and odds and ends, and on the other side, there are candies and chips.

The back wall has two small coolers with some drinks, lunch meat, bacon, whole hams... butter.  All sorts of odds and ends really. Very much a little country store feel.  There was also a table of baked goods in the back.  Bread and whoopie pies, a few other odds and ends.

The cash register is a nice old one, and the old scale is in the window...  it's just a fun little place to visit.

Their menu has really expanded!  You can get smoothies, ice cream, soup, sandwiches, cheese-steaks, breakfast sandwiches, and more!

This is an older photo, this summer they have added several additional tables, making this a really nice place to sit and have lunch!
