Waterfalls, Overlooks, Geocaches & Ice Cream - A Sunday Road Trip

SUNDAY ROAD TRIP!
The Destinations:

August, 2018.
Five Waterfalls, three overlooks, five geocaches, & a surprise ice cream shop in the middle of nowhere.

1:30pm
Dry Run Falls
After church, we grabbed some subs from a local sub shop, and drove just under an hour to Dry Run Falls - one of my favorite waterfalls.  You can see it from the parking lot, but a short scramble down the hill will get you right in the water at the base of the falls.

Next we headed to a geocache called "mary's view"  - a short hike on the LT.

2:00pm
This is the first I had seen one of the logbook holders for the Loyalsock Trail.  It's sort of like a guest book for the trail, but also includes travel information that can be checked if someone goes missing on the trail.
This was a beautiful, although VERY SOGGY, hike to a really pretty view through the trees.  With all the rain we've had this year, much of the lower parts of the trail were a swamp.

From the time stamp on my photos, it looks like it took us about 15 minutes to hike to the top from the parking area.

3:00 pm
High Knob Overlook
This is a really nice overlook area.  It's very popular with motorcyclists.  With a large picnic area and lots of parking, a beautiful view, and a geocache...

Next we headed over to Mill Creek Falls -

4:15 pm

5:00pm
We stumbled across this place - it's surrounded by nothign but mountains, and looks like Grandma & Grandpa got carried away and decided to open to the public.  There's a nice mini golf course here, and a shed with ice cream for sale.  The shed is like every concession stand at every little league field in central pa,  There's random patio furniture in the front yard to sit on.  I absolutely loved this place.

5:20pm
This is a geocache site, I'd love to know more about exactly what this was!

5:36 pm

From there we drove to Slab Run Vista - where there is a beautiful view, and a geoache.

6:15-6:45pm

We ended with the East Branch Falls, located off walker rd in Sullivan County.   These waterfalls are just a couple of hundred feet from the parking area, as long as Walker road is open.  If the road is closed, it's about 3/4 of a mile to walk to them.  All three are easy to see!  A look at the time stamps on my photos tells me that we saw them all in about 30 minutes.
More details on those falls here -

It's an hour from the East Branch falls to home, in Watsontown Pa, getting us home before 8pm.
