There's A Diner In Loganton Named The Choke & Puke

808 north mill street, Loganton Pa

We were attending a lecture in Sugar Valley when the speaker mentioned that you have to love a town with a diner named the Choke and Puke.

The..  what?  He went on with his lecture as if he had said nothing odd, so I immediately went to google.  And sure enough, it existed.  We immediately changed our plans and went there after the lecture.

It's a typical, small, hometown diner.  It's a place you could take your grandparents for lunch.  The walls are covered in photos of veterans and service members. The decor is fake flowers and country signs.  The entire place is clean.

And the food was good - very standard diner fare.  I had a BLT & Dan had a hamburg - both with crisp, fresh cut fries.  They have a REALLY good mint ice tea too.

So why the Choke And Puke? As we were leaving, we got the story.  The owners are local, and over the years the locals referred to this location jokingly as "the choke and puke", as a sort of joke.  So when the new owners bought the place, he insisted on using the name he had been using for this place for years.  Even if the food is a whole lot better now.

It's right off 80, at the Loganton exit, by the gas station, so a quick stop off and on the highway if you are passing through.  They are open from 6am to 3pm, serving breakfast and lunch.

And they do sell t-shirts.
