Big Falls In Sullivan County

Big Falls, State Game Lands 13 in Sullivan County PA

Right Nearby:

  • Sullivan Falls (very short walk to view, steep & slippery to the bottom)
  • Bear Run Falls - Completely visible from the car, nearly impossible to get to the bottom.
When the gate is open, you can drive (if you have a vehicle with good clearance) up the hill to the trail.  When the gate is closed, there's a parking area, and then you can walk up a very rutted, narrow, steep & rocky, forest road.  When you get close, there will be a sign on a tree.  Just past the sign is a very, very narrow pull off with enough room for one car.

Between the sign on the tree and the pull off parking area, is a well worn path down the side of the mountain.  The first little bit is pretty easy - but then it got very slick & slippery.  (It's April, and it had rained the day before - so it may not always be quite so bad)

But if you can safely make it to the bottom, it is so worth the climb.

Big Falls is on one side of the creek, and to see it is a steep climb down.    Sullivan Falls has a large, well marked parking area, and after a very, very short walk, the falls are visible.  There's a really slippery section to get to the bottom, but someone has strung up some ropes that make it much easier to descend, and get back out.  Bear Run Falls you can see from your car.  There's no real way to get to the bottom safely, but you can see them well from the top.
