Pop Up Take Out Dining - The British Baking Co in Williamsport

The British Baking Co, Williamsport

There are several new "pop up" dining options in our area.  These are not restaurants, nor are they food trucks - but rather, limited options at certain times. For instance, Shanty Secrets near Danville has a menu each week you can order ahead, pick up, and then, with some assembly required, have for dinner any day of the week.  There's an occasional paella pop up in Sunbury, and an occasional Ramen pop up in Williamsport.  Two Owls in Milton occasionally has "meal kits", everything from Pho to taco kits, often made by a local restaurant.

The British Baking Company is available for pick up, every Tuesday, from noon to 6pm.  You must order ahead - get your orders in by Monday evening.  They cook on Tuesdays only, in the commercial kitchen at the Pajama Factory.

HOW TO ORDER

(copied from their facebook post)
"We will be baking once a week, currently Tuesday, for orders received by 6 pm on Monday.
To place an order please call or text Jeanne on her cell (570) 447 3807, use Facebook Messenger or visit our website for payment by credit card: www.british-baking-company.com
Orders can be picked up at The Pajama Factory (noon or 5pm) or delivered within the greater Williamsport area."

We had a bit of a snafu when ordering.  After placing our order on the website, our confirmation text and email told us to pick up our order on Thursday, July 15th.  My text to clarify went unanswered, so we assumed I had read something wrong and that our order was for Thursday. Then on Tuesday I received several messages about not picking up our food - apparently the order confirmation software made a mistake.  Orders currently are ALWAYS PICKED UP ON TUESDAY.  Jeanne was great about meeting me on Thursday, even offering to deliver on Wednesday, and it all worked out fine.

The Picnic Pie can be eaten cold - perfect for a picnic

The crusts are incredible.  Very flaky and buttery.  The seasonings are really good too - very different from the Pennsylvania Dutch sausage typically made in my own kitchen.  Very savory, and delicious.

The steak and ale pie

The picnic pie and the sausage rolls were our favorites.  We have not yet tried the Cornish pastries, but we'll order them one week soon!
