Coal Run Falls

Coal Run Falls is either a fairly spread out three tiered waterfall, or a series of three waterfalls.  I tend to think of it as one waterfall myself, but experts may disagree. Parts of it can be seen from the road, and it's not particularly easy to get to the bottom.

Located right along Rock Run Road, near Sones Pond

The Middle Tier
We visited this area after a week of extreme rainfall - the waterfalls were all roaring, and there were trees down and debris everywhere.

The view from the road

There are a couple of very small pull offs along this road.  You can see parts of the waterfall from the road.  And then it's a steep, slippery, climb down the side.  There is no easier way that I could see, to really see the falls.

The bottom tier

I read that you can park at Sones Pond and walk along the creek to the top of the falls.  If I were to do that, I'd walk behind the bathrooms to start out.  But this was the view from the top:
It's not much of a view from the top.  If you are trying to avoid climbing to the bottom, you will have a slightly better view right from Rock Run road.
