Tamarack Falls

Tamarack Falls - 41.46847, -76.53141

There is no trail to these falls, but there's a sort of, kind of, maybe, deer path? Or at least a way in that is "the path of least resistance". They are located roughly half a mile from the road.

We originally parked at the nearby camping area, since it was not being used, and then we bushwhacked into the falls. It was pretty miserable. The high grass & ferns were hiding a large swamp, along with downed trees and rocks. On the way out, we found a much, much, easier way.

This is where we came out when hiking back. The coordinates are:

41°28'10.3"N 76°31'43.3"W

There are a few places you could pull off the road near here, or, if the campsite is empty, there is plenty of parking there, right past this "entrance".

The "path" in some areas, like this one, truly looked like a bit of a path. Eventually you will come out of these little trees, and cross a "path" that looks like it was an old fence line. There you will enter a forested area, along the creek, with pine needles covering the ground.

Although you can see the falls from the top, it's not difficult to climb down the boulders to see the falls from the bottom - and it's a much better view!

This makes it look more difficult than it is - there are almost rock "Steps" to the right of this boulder. There's also a small cave - several actually - and something was definitely inside the largest of them. I think it was a skunk - but I did passed by quickly, not wanting to find out for certain. :-)
