The Mooresburg Hotel

The Mooresburg Hotel was one of the first buildings in Mooresburg.

A ledger, found in 1972, goes back to 1829.  It shows that one nights stay included a meal, or a shot of whiskey, and cost 50 cents.
A popular stop on th eforad between Danville and Lewisburg, the hotel was in buisiness for over 100 years.

Gas pumps were added when automobiles replaced the horse and buggy.

The hotel closed when the railroad was closed, and route 642 was built, bypassing the town.
The house then became a private residence.

In 1906, a grand shooting match was held at the hotel, followed by an evening dance.

Pig Roast and Dinner was held at the Mooresburg Hotel for Thanksgiving, 1907

In 1910 the license was transferred from Joseph Hilkert to Richard Latshaw
