A Poem to Fete The Ways For Their Donation Of The Park
In April of 1913, the Board Of Trade honored J. Roman Way
"Most Successful Function In Appreciation of Donor Of Ways Garden"
In the spring of 1913, Way had begun to demolish Faries Castle, the impressive, solid, building that stood across from Way's house and had been home to the White family for more than 40 years. With the castle torn down, Way then had a garden designed, and donated it to the city of Williamsport.

Joseph Roman Was was born August 31 1848, the son of David & Sarah Jane Way. He married Emma Gibson. The couple had no children of their own, but Roman's brother John named one of his sons Joseph Roman Way Jr, after his uncle.
