The Winters Of Williamsport By Lois Oliver - Read It Online

In December of 2024 I spotted this book in the window of a new store in downtown Williamsport.  When I shared it, many were interested in reading the book - but copies are rare!  Otto's called the publisher, and the authors son brought them one copy for their window.  When I stopped in to Otto's they told me that Lois Oliver, the author, died before the book was published.  Only a few copies were printed, for the author.

Today, while researching the canal lock in Lock Haven, I came across a post by the author, and from there I found that she had posted her entire book online in facebook posts, including in a public facebook group called Ole Home Days.  She posted one chapter every Friday.  There are some numbering issues on the chapters, but I think I have them in the proper order in the list below.

So until the Publisher decides if they will print more copies..  here's where to find the chapters online:

"It is not a romance, but it has romance. it is not a mystery, but it has one. It is not a Christian book, but we find God there. It is not meant to be a history book, but real historical events are part of the story. It is set in the Williamsport that was, in the 1880's, 140 years ago."

This is her draft, before it was edited.  The nice part about that is that she offers a lot of authors notes on each chapter she posts.

CHAPTER 7 [7b?  A different chapter than the last]
Oliver's Note about chapter 12:
" I have always pictured the furniture factory mentioned in today's story, in the area of the Pajama Factory. However there is nothing in history that tells us there was one anywhere near that area. However there was one that took up the whole block between 3rd and 4th street in the 300/400 block east of the Courthouse. They also made coffins, along with their fine furniture. As usual, most of my research is compliments of Greg Oliver and his efforts.
I personally have a dresser, shipped by rail, from Williamsport to Roaring Branch, made by that company, Page Brothers."
CHAPTER 15
Note from Oliver:
SIDE NOTE- I SKIPPED A CHAPTER NUMBER SOME TIME AGO, JUST TOOK THE TIME TO GET IT ALL STRAIGHT. SO TODAYS CHAPTER IS 22, EVEN THO LAST WEEKS SAID IT WAS 22.
CHAPTER 24 [If there is a 24, I haven't found it]
