The Mansion House Hotel, Watsontown Pa

The Mansion house was built by John Forseman  in 1867, and was originally known as Forseman's Hotel.   It's had numerous owners over the years, and is still operating today.

1877 - Mr Edward Lutz of Sinking Spring, berks County, will take charge of the Mansion House, Watsontown, on the first of April.

1917 - On application for a liquor license - "The court withheld action in the application of W. C. Crippen, the Mansion Hotel, pending further evidence"
In 1918, The Mansion House, "the largest hotel here" went out of business.
Owned by The Moyers, Mr Moyer was off at Camp Meade, leaving Mrs Moyer to run the hote.  With the rising price of "intoxicants" and the falling off of the demand of liquor had led to the lack of profits for more than a year.
"More than a year ago the hotel was sold by the sheriff.  Then $1500 worth of repair bills were not settled, and the court refused a license until they were paid"
