Nurse Helen Fairchild, Died in France in WWI
Nurse Helen Fairchild was born in Milton in 1885, but while very young, the Fairchild family moved to the Millinery Mansion built by Benjamin Griffey. Helen lived almost her entire life in this home. (Helen's parents moved to Watstontown, to her grandparents home, leading newspapers to refer to her as a "Watsontown Girl" when she died in France during WWI). The bridge in Watsontown is named for Miss Fairchild.

"Young people attending a rock concert near Allenwood in May 1970 are seen here selling tie-dyed clothing and other knick-knacks of the youth culture of the time. The rock concert originally called the Balls Mills Peace Festival and Rock Concert had to be relocated from the Balls Mills area, north of Williamsport because of the legal opposition of residents of that area. More than 1,500 heard five rock bands and several folk singers perform at the concert."
