Unfortunately, when you ask where I found something, the answer is often "in a folder on my external hard drive". I know that isn't especially helpful. But when I pull those items, and do additional research on them, there are a LOT of resources I use for additional photos and information.
Mostly, I cannot stress this enough, do not be afraid to read through ANYTHING close to your subject. I read a book on the Temperance Movement in Pennsylvania that had some great local history in it. Books published by local fraternities, churches, clubs.. I even have a stack of cookbooks with great historical notes in them.

College libraries have great digital archives - and just because it's a Texas College, or California College, don't skip running basic local search terms! You never know what you will find.

One of my goals in 2026 was to visit each of our local libraries and see what was available in their local history sections.

Most of our local historical societies also have research libraries, in addition to regular programs.
